Taska Black

Words written by Taska Black…

“Four years ago I experienced my first panic attack out of nowhere. It was right after I dropped out of college to pursue my career in music. I had never been an anxious or stressed person (so I thought) and couldn’t believe it were mental triggers that made these panic attacks happen. I believed something was physically wrong with me and it took me almost a year to accept the fact that it was all happening because of anxiety and other mental health related issues. For a year I was terrified to get more panic attacks and I started feeling all sorts of sensations and pains in my body that I had never felt before. Anxiety triggering all of these symptoms made me even more worried and anxious which enforced the problem itself, it became a vicious circle. Breathwork, meditation, working out, but most of all accepting and recognizing that my subconscious thoughts played a big role in this eventually helped me get rid of the panic attacks. Now four years later I still struggle with the common pains and sensations but the panic attacks stay away. I learned that there’s constantly things happening in our minds that need addressing before they derail and snowball into bigger issues. ‘When I Come Home’ is about addressing the things that don’t come to the surface that easily. It’s about recognizing what’s going on in your head and being okay with giving yourself space to figure it out.”
