What past Fellows have to say:
Stephanie Lamond
Stephanie’s impact was felt throughout the Backline clinical team, helping expand Backline’s Clinical Network in under-represented states and helped strengthened outreach and connections with providers nationwide. She has played a pivotal role in helping organize and accredit Harmony In Practice, which reached record attendance this year. Stephanie was the first Fellow to present at the conference, leading a session on expressive arts and songwriting. Throughout the year, Stephanie also provided critical support during the LA wildfires response and helped create touring resources: Road Ready, Mind The Music, and more.
“This fellowship position has been pivotal for me in my professional development as a music industry professional-turned-counselor – it allowed me to step into this new chapter and role in the most supportive, expansive, and inspiring context and team I could have ever dreamed up. Being part of Backline, and experiencing seeing a need and immediately being able to channel my passion to help into tangible resources, solidified my sense of purpose and meaning in the work in a powerful way. It has been a challenge in all the right ways, and also been tons of fun.
Backline is a gathering place of shared passion for all of us who are dedicated to making the MI a healthier, more “well” place, and for anyone who is beginning this path, I can’t think of a better jump-off point to get your “sea legs”, the “lay of the land” so to speak, and build your vision for what your own practice and/or work will look like in this intersection of the music industry and mental healthcare.“
L’Oréal Porçeia McCollum
L’Oréal played a pivotal role in expanding Backline’s clinical network, strategically targeting underserved states and helping the network reach its goal of 1,000 vetted providers three months ahead of schedule. She also made significant contributions to the organization and development of the Harmony In Practice conference, securing approval from the Association of Social Work Boards and the National Board of Certified Counselors. In addition, L’Oréal supported the Case Management team by assisting with calls and developing crucial resources tailored for professionals in the music industry.
“As a musical artist and clinician, this fellowship has been a deeply fulfilling opportunity to support fellow members of the music community while working with an incredible team of folks passionate about the industry. Collaborating on the Harmony in Practice clinical conference was a highlight, allowing me to connect with kindred clinicians from across the country. Through this fellowship, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the unique clinical needs of music professionals, which has shaped my dedication to focusing my work on this community. I’m grateful for the lessons and connections I’ve made with the Backline team, all of which I will continue to carry forward in my career.”
Carrie Ann Flemming
Carrie Ann developed and implemented a thorough wellness provider vetting system, and vetted over 100 mental health providers across the country. She played a key role in the writing, planning, and design of the Touring Notebook, an essential resource for the music industry. Additionally, Carrie Ann contributed to the successful development and execution of Backline’s inaugural clinical conference, Harmony in Practice. She also supported the Case Management team by assisting with calls and creating critical resources for professionals in the music industry.
“Supporting Backline’s mission through the Neal Casal Clinical Fellowship this past year has been a unique and meaningful experience. The fellowship allowed me to use my clinical experience to help solve problems and support Backline’s growth. It provided space to offer my perspective and creativity to projects that align with my passions. And it stretched me to take on tasks I’ve never done before, building trust in my approach and strengthening my love of collaboration. A highlight has been working with a team of kind, creative, and dedicated folks who are really good at what they do!”
