- Communities:
- Backline Communities provide a space to explore, share, and seek guidance on navigating the unique aspects of the music industry today. Communities include The Green Room support group, Backline’s Real Talk, SONA Fireside Chats.
- Clinical Referral Network:
- A network of vetted mental health and wellness providers serving the music community. Providers are vetted by Backline’s clinical team to ensure they understand the music industry.
- Educational Resources:
- Articles, personal stories, and videos on Backline’s website designed to support mental and physical well-being.
- Backline x The SONA Fireside Chats:
- Monthly conversations with songwriters and mental health professionals that center around mental health, personal stories, creativity, and healing. Hosted in partnership with The SONA Foundation.
- Harmony in Practice:
- Backline’s annual two-day workshop designed to equip mental health professionals with practical, holistic tools to address the unique challenges of the music industry.
- Master Tour:
- A platform designed for managing and organizing tours, primarily for musicians, bands and live performers. It helps in managing travel details, communication, expenses, scheduling and routing.
- Music Industry Professionals:
- All individuals who have a hand in making the music happen, including but not limited to artists, managers, agents, promoters, label personnel, crew members, venue staff and the family members who support them.
- Music’s Mental Health Fund:
- A grant program for music industry professionals needing financial assistance for mental health treatment. Powered by Backline and Sweet Relief Musicians’ Fund to subsidize mental healthcare costs.
- Real Talk:
- An online interview series where music industry professionals discuss mental health topics relevant to the industry.
- take.care Wellness Kits:
- Free tote bags filled with mental health and wellness products requested and delivered to touring professionals to support their well-being on the road.
- The Green Room:
- An open topic support group for music industry professionals and their family members. Meetings take place weekly in a private Zoom and are led by licensed therapists.
- Touring Notebook:
- A free online workbook offering mental health and wellness tips for touring professionals. Includes versions for independent touring and those in relationships.
- Wellness Practitioner:
- A professional providing non-clinical services that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Examples include breathwork instructors, yoga instructors, and mindfulness experts.
- Wellness Resources:
- Various practices and tools such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, binaural beats, sound healing, and nutritional items, offered exclusively to the Backline community. These are services outside of standard talk therapy and are separated on Backline’s website into the following:
- Exclusive offers: Discounted access to subscriptions, platforms, or products offering wellness support. Access codes are distributed weekly upon request.
- Free resources: Curated wellness recordings including breathwork, meditation, and yoga practices that are free and accessible to our community 24/7.
- Wellness practitioner database: Vetted wellness providers offering exclusive discounts on services to music industry professionals and their family members.

- Backline Case Managers:
- A team of licensed therapists, social workers, and other professionals with music industry experience who assist individuals in finding tailored mental health and wellness resources to fit their specific needs.
- Case Management:
- A one-on-one service helping individuals find mental health and wellness resources specific to their needs.
- Case Management Call:
- A scheduled call where individuals discuss their specific mental health and wellness needs with a Backline Case Manager, who assists in finding suitable providers and services.
- Care Plan:
- A structured outline of mental health and wellness resources tailored to an individual’s needs, location, and financial situation. Each care plan includes a list of vetted providers, industry resources, tangible tools, and access to Backline’s Exclusive Offers.
- Partner Organizations:
- A national network of vetted organizations and providers offering healthcare, financial assistance, and treatment options to music industry professionals.
CLINICAL TERMS
- 988:
- The National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a resource for individuals in crisis.
- Confidentiality (HIPAA):
- A core principle ensuring all information shared in Backline’s services remains private under legal and ethical guidelines.
- Consultation Call with a Provider:
- A free 15-30 minute call offered by many mental health providers to determine fit before starting services. Unlike a case management call, which is conducted with a Backline clinical team member, a consultation call is with a potential provider you are considering working with.
- Life Coach:
- A service focused on personal and professional development in areas like relationships, daily challenges, or finances. Life coaches are not required to have formal degrees or clinical training and do not provide therapy or mental health treatment.
- Mental Health:
- Emotional, psychological, and social well-being impacting how individuals handle stress, manage daily responsibilities, relationships, and decisions.
- Mental Health Professionals: Licensed providers who help individuals address emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues. This includes:
- Therapists/Counselors: Focus on talk therapy to support emotional well-being.
- Psychologists: Doctorate level providers who specialize in psychological assessments and therapy.
- Psychiatrists: Medical doctors who provide therapy and manage medications.
- Social Workers: Provide talk therapy, assist with mental health and connect clients to resources.

- Sliding Scale Fees:
- A fee structure where costs adjust based on a client’s income or financial situation.
- Superbill:
- A detailed receipt provided by healthcare providers for clients to submit to insurance for reimbursement if the provider doesn’t bill insurance directly.
- TAP (Therapy Assistance Project):
- A partnership between SONA Foundation and Backline to financially support U.S.-based songwriters and music creators with therapy costs.
- Telehealth:
- Healthcare services, including therapy and counseling, delivered via confidential online platforms or phone calls from any location.
- Wellness:
