Brandon Hardesty

Serotonin

Today, Bumpin Uglies have released their brand new single “Serotonin” to raise awareness about mental health. A portion of royalties from “Serotonin” will be donated to Backline.

To support the release, and encourage fans to take care of themselves, Bumpin Uglies frontman Brandon Hardesty wrote:

“I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember. In my early twenties I went to a fair amount of therapy to learn how to manage it better but I accepted that it was a constant in my life. I didn’t consider the possibility of antidepressants because I associated them with weakness. I was functional, and that was good enough for me. About 3 years ago I went in for a routine physical and my doctor and I got on the topic of depression. He suggested trying a mild antidepressant just to see if it made it a difference and I decided to give it a shot. It was the lowest dosage of serotonin that they prescribe and it changed my life. I know that a lot of people think about antidepressants in the same way that I did so I try to talk about them as much as possible in the hopes of normalizing them for other people. That’s what I’m trying to accomplish with this song. Life is too short to hate yourself and everyone deserves to be happy.”
