New Support Groups Added To Weekly Schedule

BACKLINE EXPANDS SUPPORT GROUPS OFFERINGS TO INCLUDE WOMXN & FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

Backline—the music industry’s mental health and wellness resource—is expanding its support group program this fall to accommodate the growing need for accessible care, launching October 12th. Moderated by licensed therapists, these support groups provide a safe place for music industry professionals and their families to come together and talk about the struggles of working in the music industry in today’s global climate.

Building upon Backline’s Come Together Support Groups, which launched in March to address the anxieties associated with COVID-19’s effects on the music industry, Backline is adding three new weekly groups: Womxn in the Music Industry: Hour of Power, Sound Support: For Families in the Music Industry, and an additional general group, called The Green Room.

The Green Room (Tuesdays @ 4:45 PM EST) will be led by Christine Martinez, mindfulness-focused professional counselor, and Hallie Lincoln, Backline co-founder, psychotherapist, and family member of a touring professional. The group will provide a safe place for music industry professionals to seek community and clinical support. ZOOM ID 845 0292 5714.

Womxn in the Music Industry: Hour of Power (Wednesdays @ 7 PM EST) will be led by Tina Rix, psychotherapist and founder of Tina Rix Music & Film, LLC, and will provide an encouraging, loving and safe place where womxn in the music industry can come together, share, and support each other as they navigate through the challenges and chapters of life. ZOOM ID 854 0001 5092.

Sound Support: For Families in the Music Industry (Thursdays @ 4 PM EST) will be led by Tania Hollingsworth, licensed clinical social worker and wife of a touring musician, and provide a judgement free, confidential support group for families in the music industry. ZOOM ID 875 4062 5111.

The meetings will take place virtually and welcome music industry professionals and their family members to discuss their struggles in a private environment with people who truly understand. More information can be found here.

“The music community is facing unique challenges brought about by COVID-19’s shuttering of events,” explains Joshua Knight, Paradigm Agent and Chairman of the Backline Board, “individuals aren’t just facing financial insecurity and loss of of work, but peripheral challenges associated with loss of livelihood, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, creative blocks, and more.”

Backline’s new support groups launch on the heels of the organization’s one year anniversary. Since its inception in 2019, the 501(c)(3) non-profit has provided mental health and wellness resources to more than 4,000 music industry professionals and their families. Backline has built a national network of mental health providers around the country, including therapists, psychiatrists, sobriety + life coaches, and wellness practitioners that have experience with and/or an understanding of the complexities of the music industry. Ultimately, Backline was built to create a safer and more supported music industry.
